I am guessing that at least a million, possibly a billion, cell phone sensors are going to catch fire next Monday.

Your cell phone sensor won't catch fire but the battery may and in that case a small fire extinguisher won't work.

I can sell you a toll bridge. Just collect the tolls and buy all the photo gear you can dream of.

Duh. Next Monday is the solar eclipse and if you point your camera, real or cell. You might blow out the sensor or over heat it.

THIS is not April fools post but a warning to those trying to photograph anything beside full totality w/o a proper filter.

How many did that at the last eclipse? I heard nothing in the news or read on the forums about any issues.

As we get closer to the event, more warnings will be posted and broadcast about what safety measures and precautions to take.

More worried about eyes than phones.
A phone can easily be replaced.

Spoke to Canon last week about something else and ask the rep about it. He said a lot of cameras got sent in for NON WARRANTY repairs.
Just because you didn't hear about it doesn't mean it didn't exist
