As a high draft number kind of a guy -- I thank you all for your service. Thank you. Very, very interesting reading. Thanks to all that posted. What a wide variety of history of people that are interested in photography now.

I was drafted before there was a number. The numbers were started the year I was released. Mine came up number 366 in the first draw.

You win. I think I was somewhere in the low 360s. Still figured I would not get called up.

Always wanted to be a pilot - like my dad. But lacked the hand-eye coord needed.
Fortunately in 1973 with all the pilots returning from SEA, USAF decided they needed engineers more than pilots.
On track to get an MSEE, I got an educational delay, and after my MSEE was assigned as a research engineer on a teeny tiny project called NAVSTAR GPS. As a critically important feature of my military career I managed to stay one step ahead of the assignment folks (for all 26 years) and was selected for a USAF medical school scholarship program in the FIRST year of its existance (Ref HPSP). Had I NOT been selected for this, I would have been transfered as a most eligible young bachelor to the desert wasteland of El Centro, CA. Along the way I met my bride, whom I certainly don't deserve, and live happily ever after, now 22 years retired.

USCG Radioman E-5 1965-1969. Ship to shore communications: voice, radio teletype and sending and receiving Morse code. Was crypto trained and had to decode military traffic once in a while. Most of my work was with fishing boats and freighters. Loved the work but time to move on at the end of 4.
