A fantastic day in the PNW with sunshine and temps above 60 degrees in Seattle made for a fantastic experience at a well know glass sculpture exhibit.

Dale Chihuly is world renown for his glass sculptures and teachings in the world of blown glass art. He himself, cannot create most of these sculptures due to an auto accident when he was in his 20's.
Ironically, he was thrown through the windshield and the glass from this took his vision in one eye.
This disability took away his depth perception, hence him becoming an amazing mentor/teacher for many others who have created some amazing masterpieces thanks to his mental visions.

More to come......

Beautiful tour, Rob! I saw his work at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden about 10 years ago.

Great stuff! I recently posted some photos I took at the St. Petersburg, Florida Chihuly Museum. A side benefit was to attend a glass-blowing demonstration by the affiliated Morean Art School. Incredibly unique pieces!

I have a pic of my wife posing in front of one of these displays in Albuquerque. Lovely colors.

Thank you, Mike! Not the easiest of places to shoot for me,(settings needing to change often and other visitors migrating alike)it's always fun to find new challenges. While I can't speak to the Brooklyn Garden, I was blown away by his displays in Seattle.
I think the hardest part was to ensure that post did not change the colors/light/shadow as I wanted images that truly captured the spirit of his art.
I love that you mentioned the NY location as we travel through there every couple years to see family. Thank you!

It truly is a great time/exhibit! That response seems to echo in all the Chihuly locations, added some to the list already:)!

Great post, Rob! Yeah, I just responded to a post a few days ago about Chihulys glass art! We saw him and part of his crew at work in a studio in Tacoma several years ago.

Couldn't agree more! The light that comes through the glass is just, spot-on everywhere you look!
Thanks for the call out of Albuquerque! Some friends just moved to that area and a visit is on the calendar already but I can push to prioritize that trip now!

I think that the Brooklyn exhibit was a traveling show.

Thanks Chief! They had a couple artists doing a show and tell there with ovens built into an old airstream trailer. How cool to be in a studio watching him direct and work there in Tacoma!!
