Has Nikon rumors gone mad?
A Z9H with a global shutter?
What is the world coming to?
Is Nikon trying to act like Sony?
Will the Z6II be able to be that all camera, still and video like the Sony has?
Will Nikon produce APS-C lenses for there proposed Z90? And if they do, will it take as long as it did for Z FF?
And why not just produce a Z500, isn't that what all the Nikon boys and girls were hopping for.
Who are you really trying to be Nikon, Sony or Canon.
I believe it's toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo late!

Lot's of shotgun topics here but I think Nikon was always being Nikon, and that is both a blessing and a curse. A Z6iii offers a lot of promise, coming this summer hopefully, but the Z9H (or any GS model) is highly niche. I see a GS more beneficial to videographers than still shooters - and we'll see that via the RED acquisition mainly. The Z50 is long overdue for an update, either as a Z50ii or the rumored Z90. Never too late, even Olympus has an afterlife as the OM System (horrible name as a brand).

But sometimes Nikon isn't always being Nikon. It could be Sony.
And here I thought Nikon sourced its imaging sensors from Sony...
With more development global shutters will be the standard like mirrorless and digital

You're probably right…tech is advancing and as sensors and processors evolve global shutter and no mechanical shutter are an obvious improvement. They'll start first with higher end models but as the good stuff inevitably gets cheaper to make it will filter down.

It will be cheaper to build shutterless camera. The shutter mechanism isn't cheap.

Then why is the Sony a9III at $6000.00 and the a9II at $4500? Is it because of the expensive shutter mechanism in the a9II? Then why is it cheaper?
I sure you have an answer, you seem to have an answer for EVERYTHING.

Cheaper to build but if they can sell a product that cost them less to make and sell for more why not????? The Japanese are very good at producing stuff that their customers perceive as value for less manufacturing cost.

Actually, my replaced shutter in my D850 was $398.00. Which I considered cheap after I got over 600,000 images on the old one. So, I figured, I got a new camera for cheap. A year after that I sold that guy on ebay for top dollar with a shutter count of only 35,000. And yes, it was stated that this was a new shutter.
