Sunday morning I woke up to a cycle of thunder, snow, rain, wind, and dazzling sunshine, which would repeat itself in different sequences. I stayed home. Knowing that today looked iffy (and it's been snowing all morning), I ventured out yesterday to the Burro Mountains where the Continental Divide Trail runs through close to its southern end. It was in the upper 30's, spitting snow, and gusty, so I didn't linger on my way to my trail camera out there except to grab this quick shot. Those low clouds hide mountains off to the southeast.
Beautiful, it's been that way too down here
The gray flat light emphasizes a feeling of desolation. Your composition with foreground elements leading us all the way to the distant clouds is wonderful!
Nice one. Our weather was like that too.

I can imagine how pretty that is.

Thanks! Though I'll admit I have a bit of cabin fever, I've seen the aftermath of too many dry winters to complain. Rain and snow lend a magical quality to an arid environment.

Good! I am never one to fuss about spring snow in New Mexico.
Very nice scene, and I agree, it leads you right into the distant clouds. Spring weather can be so unpredictable. Well done.
Beautiful shot! I look forward to the bounty from the trail cams.

And you can see the highway right below those clouds. I like the variable weather though I'm never a fan of wind. Thanks for looking.

Me too. For now there is no trail cam out there; I got bored with the area. The camera probably did too, since it had been in the Burro Mountains for almost three and a half years!

I guess your camera needs a new view on things.

It really was beautiful out there. And needless to say I had the place to myself.

I have several trail cams and I like to move them around, although a few of them have more or less permanent homes (like the one for which I lost both keys to the locking cable). I'm sure I'll place a camera back out there again. It's a good area for cougars. Also cows.
