My Favorite Piano Concerto - Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2

I agree. This is one of the handful of my very favorite musical compositonns. And this is a good producion, with both the power and the passion of Rachmaninov's music. Thanks for sharing.

This is the piece that Rachmaninoff wrote after recovering from depression due to the failure of his first symphony, a failure caused by a drunk conductor who had never looked at the score before the concert. The Rach 3 is also among my favorites along with Tchaikovsky 1, Brahms 2, Beethoven 5.

My favorite also. It's a tie with Brahms 2. This is a great performance. I judge all performances of Rachmaninoff 2 against Van Cliburn's. His performance of this in Moscow on Russian TV is also astonishing but suffers from poor sound and video.
