DJphoto Loc: SF Bay Area

We had some free time in Pisa and used part of it for a lunch near the leaning tower. After lunch we boarded the coach for the 2 hour drive to Lucca. Our timing was perfect, because as soon as we got on the coach, the skies opened!

We had read about Lucca and were really looking forward to going there. From the Viking tour description: The walls surrounding this atmospheric city, built in stages from the 11th to the 17th centuries, remain completely intact; you will feel as though you have stepped back in time as you pass through its ramparts. On a walking tour, follow the medieval bastions and cobblestone streets past the Basilica di San Frediano and Roman amphitheater. View the charming interior and artwork in the Cattedrale di San Martino.

We enjoyed Lucca so much that we spent two nights there on our month-long drive around Italy 11 months later. Where we entered the walled city of Lucca through the Porta San Pietro. We drove into the walled part of the city (at a different entry port) to our accommodations on our 2023 road trip.
