Mostly I listen to end enjoy classical and jazz music. However, I also enjoy "pop", not all, but this type thrills me.

Thanks for the link. Back when music was actually music and not prepubescent auto-tuned nonsense.

I probably have 50,000 mp3 files on my PC. I play them via a Sonos system or put on my headphones while on the PC. I never listen to any current/pop music. I don't consider it music. It is rhythm, but in my opinion, it does not conform to my taste in music.

My parents said the same thing about the music I listened to in the 60's and 70's. They couldn't understand my fascination with the Beatles and Stones. Dylan confused them. Experimemtal jazz annoyed them. Zepplin just drove them bonkers. It was all just screaming and noise. We agreed on Sinatra and Basie, but my friends thought I had lost my mind. I never let anyone know about the Zappa records in my collection. No one was ready for that.lol

With you on that. Some of it has rhythm. It started from a great distance away from my tastes and has been on a divergent path since. Can you imagine someone a few years from now saying, "Listen dear. They are playing our song" ?

Sure. If you were young and in love, maybe you have a favorite song/track/mix that is part of your common experience. Who knows the mysteries of the human heart?

That reminds of agent Tim McGee and hid bride on ncis using β€œ She blinded me with science β€œ as their wedding song.

I get what you are saying. Some parallels to my own life. My mom hated most songs by the Doors. I would not think of exposing her to Frank Zappa. Oddly, she liked some songs by Pink Floyd. And thought Jimi Hendrix had a nice voice. On the other had she turned me on to big band music like Goodman, Basie, Miller, and later Frank Sanatra. My dad was less interested in music but liked to dance.
