I have been monitoring Osprey nests for Audubon for several years and they are returning. This is my first one to return. We track departure and return date and primarily track new additions to the population. DDT nearly destroyed them and they are making an excellent comeback.

The male and female split up and leave separately, going their own ways, for their winter homes in Central America and then meet back at the same nest in the spring. Food for thought!

Great capture Dave, I have been watching a pair rebuild their nest, it was take over by a pair of eagles before being completely blown away in one of the stores. But the Osprey are completely undaunted and were busy furnishing their new home.

First shot for me this year! I do reports to Audubon about every ten days. Keeps me off the streets and out of the bosses view!

Thank you! Around here, northeast Ct, they often build nests on cell towers or an occasional platform. Long focal lengths allow me to determine sex and identify the fast growing offspring from adults.

I get territorial fights on occasion, mostly from other Osprey, crows or local Eagles.

After spending the winter basking in the sun, it was exposed to windy temps in the 20's and 30's. Their diet is almost completely comprised of fish, so frequent dunks in cold water doesn't help!

Good morning! You may get some lazy ones that stop and stay in your area!
Your climate is pretty darn good!
