I shoot primarily Sony now, but I thought you Canon shooters might be interested.

I owned a couple of Canon refurb lenses and they were a great deal.

The SX50 Bridge had defective rubber on the eye pad and 17000 were recalled, I bought two at $150, a new eye pad, and a wonderful camera at a fraction of the price.

rwoodvira, the Canon people should thank you... me, yep Sony... and a vast number of Minolta lenses to fit.

Interesting, the Canon R5 is listed as a refurb for 2399, B&H currently has that on sale for 2999, now I know that's 600 bucks difference.
But for me, a longer warranty?, an actual BOX and all accessories will allow the new buyer to get higher resale value on the new camera over the refurb without a new box?. So, as a result, down the road, there may be only a difference of 300-400 dollars difference.
Is that important to you?, only you will know. I believe Canon gives a shorter warranty on refurb's than new, but I could be wrong, which would not be a surprise.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Canon refurbs purchased directly from Canon carry the same warranty as new.

Same warranty as new in box. I have bought several bodies and lenses from the Canon refurb store over the years. Box contains the same stuff as a new in box version. Zero problems with any of them.

Most of the "refurbs" are actually returned merchandise from stores or ones that were used as demos/displays at shows by Canon reps. And individually they get a tougher inspection than the ones coming down the assembly line.

Nice warranty service on refurbished. Wish Nikon would do the same.
