I got a notice from Jacquie Lawson eCards about Simnel Cake. Are you folks in England familiar with this? It sounds delicious.

"...but here in the UK, there’s another sweet delicacy boasting an even longer tradition. Dating all the way back to mediaeval times, Simnel Cake is a tasty fruit cake with a layer of marzipan, topped with eleven balls of the same."

Thanks, but my neck is already sore from trying to read it. I'll have to make that cake a little bit at a time. 😂

I have watched a lot of The Great British Baking Show, and there seems to be an incredible number of traditional British baking recipes I've never heard of.

Interesting how they were kind enough to include oz. in the recipe for most of the ingredients but left non-metric readers to wonder just how much milk to use! I know it is easy enough to translate, but it just seemed odd.
Then later on they said to use a 7-inch pan -- what happened to the metric size there?

Never heard of it Jerry, but it could be a regional recipe.
