Hello my photography friends. Its been a very long time since I have been here. A lot has happened in the past to years. My wife and I have built our retirement home in Tennessee. We wanted to do this two years ago but something happened that would test my resolve and physical being. June 17th of 2022 I was in a very bad accident. I was hit by a dump truck while working. The truck was doing 55 mph when it hit me. threw me over the guard rails and more than 50 feet. As you can guess I had some very bad injuries. I was in the hospital for four months and countless physical therapy. Just finished my last therapy session. I am mobile with a walker or a cane. I have learned patients and other ways to accomplish task. I am going to start my photography training after we get settled in our retirement home. I couldnt move my legs for a long time In the accident I broke my left hip my left pelvis my right knee tore my left achillies and internal injuries. Life has been very challenging but i am no quitter. It's been a big fight. Now I will try to get back into my life that i enjoy. Photography and my wood shop. there will be learning curves but I will achieve. stay tuned my friends. And please be safe out there there are careless people out there.

OMG Al. So sorry to hear about your accident. Having just retired with over 40 years in EMS I can appreciate the extent and nature of your injuries. You are a very fortunate guy to have survived as you well know. I am sure the PTSD from such an event has also impacted you. Thoughts and prayers for you and your wife to continue your recovery.

As for the photography stuff. What a great attitude and opportunity for you to heal. I have seen other articles here in the past about people creating brackets for walkers and wheelchairs to mount their cameras on so that they may get around and take photographs while still using their appliances. I wish I lived near you because it would be a worthy undertaking to help you get back up and running.

Please take care and keep on keeping on with your positive attitude.

Jim

You’ve been on quite a journey! Recovery from something like that takes a long time and is very challenging. Take is slow getting back to your hobbies. Savor every moment. It is amazing how much knowledge slips your mind over time but it is sure to come back as you progress.

Don't know what to say for sure. But, in my retirement community the wood shop, photography and videography are the driving forces that keep me having fun being busy.
