I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Matt Granger setup for Nikon Z8. He charges $96 for it. Is it worth the money. His argument is that once you complete his setup, the Z8 will be easier to use and ready for any type of photography….!

If you want to know you have to spend the $96. I guess if you paid the $96 you can share it to others. The question is are you getting paid for your photography?

Why would anyone want someone else's setup? Especially for $96!?? Camera setups are as personal as a tooth brush! IMHO!! If the Z8 needs a "setup" to be functional for whoever Matt Granger is, there is definitely a fly in the ointment with the Z8.

How can Matt Granger possibly know what your shooting style is? Your shooting style and genre will determine your setup. There is no "one size fits all."

It seems incredible that anyone would pay $96 to have someone else set up my camera settings. I just purchased a new Z8 and there must be a dozen different You Tube videos going through a step by step process of setting it up -- for free. I have to agree with most of the other comments that I might not like every particular setup that Matt likes. It seems to me that going through the options pretty much one by one will at least familiarize you with the choices and the camera. No, I can't imagine paying that much for a custom set up. But, that is just me.

I have changed my Z8 setup multiple times since I received it. I think it is setup how I want it now but, who knows. I just might tweak something even now. Why pay $96 for a static setup knowing it will change again and again?

He claims that he has a set up for action, portrait, landscape, and set up For astrophotography. That pretty much covers everything.

For $96 you can buy 2 or 3 good books that will cover virtually everything about the camera.

Better idea: Learn to set up your camera yourself. It's the only way you'll be comfortable down the road tweaking the settings. Everything you need to know is out there free of charge. All you need to do is find it. And if you can't bring yourself to learn how to set your camera up, you likely have the wrong camera.
