Just bought one recently. Very pleased with the image quality, especially in low light. If you are used to a DSLR, you will be able to take full advantage of the high level of manual control that it has.

It is a little bulky for a compact, but it will go into a jacket pocket fairly easily, even in a pouch (I have a soft pouch for it, and I take the lens cap off when it is in the pouch).
I posted some results from it a while back. I think the title I used was "P7700 quick test run" or something like that. It was a while ago, so it's probably quite a few pages in by now.
Hope this helps. I'll try adding some images as attachments.

I've had mine for a month now and couldn't be happier. It has some amazingly cool features built right in but can also be every bit as manual as any DSLR. It is the camera that I have with me all the time. I miss the built in lens cover that the previous models had, but that's it.

I would look at the new Canon powershot G15. DP has a good side by side comparison. Nikon does not have an optical view finder and to me that is a necessity for any camera.

Thanks very much, richnash46.

I didn't invite any criticism in my first posting, and that's exactly what happened - nobody said anything. I was pleased with the results, but I'd have to admit to being somewhat biased. Thanks again.
