Can you identify this bird?

I am a portrait photographer not a bird photographer. That said: What type of bird is this?

I see them at the last hour of the day. There are mostly 5-8 of them in a group. They almost always fly very high up.

Both of these shots were taken last eve. with a 600mm lens @ 1/1600.

One shot is a crop of the other. Very little PP was done to either.

I see these birds a lot, but they are so high up, that for me to make a positive I.D is not good.

So..."Dose anyone here know their I.D???

Thanks,
Boone.

As it is difficult to determine the head color, this could be a Black Vulture. They are often confused.

What's the difference?: Turkey Vulture vs. Black Vulture

Hard to tell without a download, but I don't think it's a vulture of any kind. The enlarged version suggests a female Northern Harrier to me.

You may well be correct. Without a clear view of the head and beak it is just not discernible from these shots.

I agree some type of hawk. The vultures are usually darker in color.

Late in the day probably responsible for the warm color.

Underside of the wing is a dead giveaway it’s not a black.
