I have had very few Hawk opportunities in my career .....Hawks and birds in general have become quite scarce in my area now - so I am quite excited to get ANY Hawk images ! I believe this to be a Broad Winged Hawk ......or a juvie Red Shouldered...

Please judge these images more by their content than quality

Canon 1D mark IV - this is the 16MP predecessor to the 1DX circa 2011 with a 1.3 crop factor.......@ 10 FPS
Canon 400 f4 DO 1st version with 1.4X III hand held in diffuse mid morning light - 728 mm f5.6 and BIG crop ! !

there is a lot of confusion on the two, but i believe a juv.red shouldered, just because of the leading edge of the wings.i see a little red starting to come through!i tried to id by bill, but both have yellow and shaped the same way, hopefully someone will chime in to give a 100% i.d. i'll stay tuned! Either way, great shots

Both content and quality say you have a couple of great photos. BIF are not always easy, but you have got it.
Looking at the birds carefully and judging by the tail bands, I really think it is an immature Red Shouldered, but I am sure there are more experienced birders here who can ID it. Any way, well done.

Nice! BTW, your general comment suggesting declining bird population is something we in Colorado see as well. Hawks are relatively available year around, but other raptors like eagles, ospreys, owls get more challenging each year along with with general bird population.
