As I was perusing the lasted entries on UHH, an ad popped up at the bottom of the page. For car dent repairs. Unfortunately the woman pointing at the car had six fingers. I guess the company couldn’t afford to hire a real model.

That may not be a bad thing. Maybe if you took your Smart Car in for repair it would come out looking like a Ferrarii

It definitely put a smile on my face when I saw it. Of all places to put that ad. On a photography blog.

Hmm I might have to see if that works. If nothing else I still get my car repaired.

Maybe it's because AI is told we have five fingers when the reality is we have four fingers and a thumb.

I wonder if anyone has told AI the proper number of fingers in their image instructions, especially after getting too many the first time.

I haven't tried doing people or hands with AI. But that might be a good way of giving instructions on what someone is looking for.

NT Frank, Our 9th grade biology teacher had a lump where his 6th finger was removed, so the 6-fingered woman is perhaps real, and the ad is remembered because of her "super-numerated digit."

You can no more pick how many fingers you will have than you can pick your nose....

"Polydactyly is estimated to manifest in approximately 1.6 to 10.7 cases per 1000 live births, with males being affected twice as frequently as females.[7] The incidence of polydactyly of the fingers is higher in Blacks, which is approximately 1 in 300 individuals, than in Whites, which is around 1 in 3000 individuals."

Don, in real life I doubt an advertiser would hire that person as a spokesperson. But perhaps a Major League Baseball team would take a chance on him as a pitcher.
I took JohnSwanda’s suggestion and went into PS and used generative fill and requested a four finger one thump hand. I got mixed results.

Agree, it was probably AI. However I have known a couple of people with 6 fingers… 1was my cousin.

Said Mandy Patinkin in the movie, "Princess Bride," to the six fingered man, "My name, Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
