If I charge $4,000 over three months on a card Capital One will send me, they’ll give me 75,000 free miles. Now that’s a good deal.

I have a JetBlue card that was used only for some flights. I have about 4,000 points, but they are good only for travel.

Not for me, because I never fly—but if they will give enough free gas to drive 75,000 miles, well then...

We fly to Europe every couple of years. Because of miles on our credit cards we’ve never had to pay for these international flights.

Citibank promises me that if I pay my bill in total promptly they will not charge me any interest. I think all banks offer this, so that would be the proper way to use plastic. By the way, I have about 350,000 miles, which I will use if flight ever again becomes endurable. For now, I'll drive.

Link your card with Amazon for points you can use to pay for things you order from them. Then, use your card to pay for most, if not all of your expenses you normally pay for with cash and/or checks. The points rack up rather quickly. Afterwards, pay off the card each month so you don't have to pay interest charges. You can save a lot of money that way.

Not really. I pay the card off every month so don’t pay any interest. There’s no annual fee on the card, and I’d been using the same card since 1983.

The products I buy are the same price whether I pay by credit card or cash. If you’re then saying that everyone pays the fee in essence whether they pay by cc or cash, then you’re saying that in general the fee is already built in to all products sold. In that case, then I do wind up ahead by getting free flights.
