Good Day Hogs:

I am looking for a new SDXC card reader. I want a high speed USB 3.0 or higher with either a USC C or USB A connector.

My current card reader will not read the SDXC cards form my Canon R6MII cards as it was manufactured before the new cards came out.

Thanks in Advanced.

Call B&H. They will sell you a suitable reader.

Are you using type I or type II? The II has two rows of contacts. The type I has a single row.

Youre doubting that B$H will ask all the necessary questions ?

FWIW, a reader lacking that second row of contacts will still read a two row card. You show us that its the Hawgsters who do not bring up the necessary issues.

Hopefully the OPs new reader is now on its way and the next ten useless pages of this thread can just dangle in the aether.

I am using type II with two rows of contacts. My current reader reads the cards extremely slow, 30 plus seconds per raw picture.

If your computer supports a USB 3.0, 3.2 or thunderbolt connection, get a reader that supports that interface. It’s likely the USB interface that’s killing your speed

I have two of them for our MacBook Airs. It might be overkill, as it is a dock. But it has:

HDMI monitor output supporting 4K video @ 60Hz HDR (great for using TVs as monitors in hotels or relatives' houses).
UHS-II SD and Micro SD Card Readers read all SDXC cards through specification version 4.0.
2 – USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports (10Mbps).
100 Watt USB-C Power Delivery (pass-through) port for charging laptops.
GIGABIT Ethernet for secure networking.
8" long USB-C cable (to connect to computer).
3.5mm Headphone Jack (for audio output).

The SDXC I/II readout is FAST. We travel with these hubs so we can connect to wired Ethernet, download camera files, connect USB-A flash drives and use hotel TVs as monitors, or connect to video projectors for presentations. The audio output is pristine, better than the Mac itself, and perfect to connect to a commercial PA system Direct Box input for presentations.

My only recommendation would be to consider getting a reader with both USB-A and USB-C connections. I have one and it future-proofs the device. Many new laptops only have USB-C now.

So long as the reader supports USB-C connection to a computer, it is future proof. Well, that is, until some future incompatible connector standard comes along!

Adapters work... I have a couple of USB-A to USB-C adapters to get my legacy peripherals connected to a computer without a hub or dock. They are used for high power devices (Apple SuperDrive DVD burners) that cannot connect to a passive hub.

You have definitely come to the right place. They will be many, varied, and conflicting. Good luck.

Yes that will happen. So, hardly a "right place". Thaz why I just call B&H and buy the *real* right stuff from the *real* right place.

Mine works perfectly but I bought it over a year ago and new products arrive all the time, so it doesnt matter what Im using cuz the OP needs to buy today. Yesterday is gone.
