Adobe Camera RAW

I have been using Photoshop Elements 2021 and no problem using the camera raw feature. Decided to upgrade to Elements 2024 and downloaded it successfully. However, when I try to use the adobe camera raw feature it won't let me. Tried to follow instructions provided on how to correct but not sure am doing it right. I think it is telling me my system is too old, but not sure. My desktop is about 7 years old with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3220 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz processor. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what did you do to correct?

One of the newer customer driven 'features' in the Elements programs is to NOT fill up the customer's disk with things not everyone wants or needs. One of them is ACR. If you don't shoot RAW, you don't need it.

The solution is to put it in the Help menu at the bottom of the list.

Should my solution not work, there is a strong and active Adobe sponsored user forum for Photoshop Elements here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-elements/ct-p/ct-photoshop-elements?page=1&sort=latest_replies&lang=all&tabid=all

While I'm not an Elements user. (I use full PS), I disagree with "If you don't shoot RAW, you don't need it" ACR is loaded with features that can be applied to jpg's.

You missed the point. Adobe gives it to you if you want. It does not fill up your disk if you don't.

Charles, if you're getting a message on your screen, can you capture it as screenprint and post here, or write down what it says? ACR installed easily into my PSE 2024, but I have a 2020 M1 Macbook Air.

See if this video is relative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHjoudB7ecs

If not, Bsprague's suggestion is a good one

I use Photoshop Elements 2022 and had no problems until I upgraded to a Canon R7 camera. The software wouldn't recognize the images. I called Adobe's customer support and the agent got the plug in loaded in about 5 minutes. No problems since then!

Perhaps your GPU isn't good enough for the latest Adobe Camera Raw version 16.2. If so you may have to download a slightly older version.

Adobe says the R7 needs ACR 14.4. The table for supported cameras is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Adobe says that Photoshop Elements 2022 contains ACR 13.3 through 14.1. The table is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html

If the agent tricked 2022 into working, you got a good freebie. Adobe policy suggests you needed to buy a newer version.

I am an Elements user and use it with my JPEGs. I agree with the opinion that it is full of features that can be used to make the image bettter...Julian

Thank you all for your response and assistance. Turns out my OS system is simply too old for latest version of Camera Raw as a plug in for Elements 24. As I said earlier, my desktop is now 7 years old and in computer years that is old. Now, do I go shopping or just use what I have. Will make me a margarita and think about it.

I think it's not your OS (Windows as I think you have Windows 10 which is fine for the newest version of Camera Raw but rather your computer, specifically the GPU (graphic procressing unit) is not up to the requirements. However, if you download and install a slightly older version of Camera Raw (version 14.x) then it would work just fine.
