Soon after the miss, the eagle saw the fish again, took a sharp turn back to the water, and had his/her prey!

True, Jim. I have noticed that eagles and osprey have "firmer grips". Gulls are the worst, maybe because they are holding on to the fish with their beaks and not talons.
The eagles also try to steal fish caught by other fish!
