An Old Flowing Well

Found in Delaware County, Indiana. It looks to be the result of a gas well attempt. The Gas Boom in this part of Indiana lasted from around 1880-1900.

Not really, since the water soaks back into the ground. There are lots of these flowing wells in this part of the country. Some are natural, and some are the result of the many gas wells that were drilled during the gas boom.

Coming from the South West, my immediate reaction was the same as that of NMGal. Water is a precious commodity in these parts.
But, on second thought, you're right. Water recycling for many years!!!
It's still painful to see!!

Great image!!!
There is no wasted water from and Artesian Well it return from whence it came if not used!!
