Jan. 31 (UPI) -- A 285-year-old lemon found in the back of an old cabinet drawer was auctioned for $1,780 in England.
Brettells Auctioneers in Shropshire said a 19th century cabinet was brought to the auction house by a family who said it had belonged to a deceased uncle.
A specialist was photographing the cabinet for sale when the lemon was discovered in the back of a drawer.
The fruit was inscribed with the message: "Given By Mr P Lu Franchini Nov 4 1739 to Miss E Baxter."

My wife and I drink mostly lemon water (ice water with a bit of lemon juice)… other than morning 2 cups of coffee each that is about all we drink.
I doubt either of would try any juice from that lemon… actually think it would have no juice… and wonder how it could even exist now
What about lemon meringue pie? My wife makes it for me for my birthday instead of a cake. Yum!

I think I will inscribe a lemon and squirrel it away for my great, great, great-grandchildren! By then, the way things are going, they maybe could use a few extra bucks!
How about Lemoncello? 1 bottle gin or vodka, zest of several lemons, and a month or four. Supposed to be delicious.
