Happy New Year to all who do celebrate the Lunar New Year. It's the year of the Dragon.

Happy Lunar New Year to you. Not something I have previously celebrated. Does it being Dragon mean something good?

I think (but I have an old man memory) that you were from Vietnam. I spent a year in both Vietnam and Thailand … and am trying to remember if it was New Year when they had a “Water” celebration or festival in Thailand… was that celebrated in Vietnam as well? In Thailand, they would go around splashing water on each other… even riding in the back of trucks and splashing people on the roadside.

We were more aware of local traditions in Thailand… since it was a different situation/environment when we were in Vietnam.

Around here it's always Bearded Dragon and 'Bin Chicken' Time.

The water splashing thing isn't a Vietnamese tradition. I don't know anything about it. Well whether the year is a good year or bad year it depends on which year you're born.

The water festival is a Thai fertility celebration. You'll also find roadside shrines with penis effigies in ALL sizes, with legs that make them look like canons at the ready. I was signal corps, ten mos in Vietnam and two mos. in Thailand in 69-70. It was water everywhere!

I wouldn't trust it but this is an article about that. You were born in 46 unless you're born early in the year like January you were born in the year of the dog.
