Although, I can remember, and probably a number of other hoggers, when smoking was allowed in a hospital by patients and employees.
Now that I think about it was quite absurd and dangerous. A terrible fire at a local hospital years ago was started by a cigarette in a laundry basket.

Used to round with lit pipe! Left it outside when entering room with sign on door “ Oxygen in use”
In Auditorium at Grand Rounds it would fill with smoke.

I too used to smoke a pipe on rounds. It was received better than the cigar smoke from some of my colleagues!

I grew up in smoke-filled rooms, and I'm sure I'm paying for it now. Everyone should be allowed to sue the tobacco companies.
