"The Fighting Lady" an interesting documentary...

fuminous Loc: Luling, LA... for now...

There's not much of a plot but it is an interesting documentary based on an unidentified carrier- obviously the USS Yorktown. I enjoyed the film's language and "Navy talk" and am startled by how young are the sailors (my Dad joined at 15 years old). Arkansas native "Smoky Stover" appears as his last cameo... (there are a handful of notable "Smoky Stovers")

"THE FIGHTING LADY is one of the great documentaries to emerge from WWII. Shot in 1944, this documentary was produced by the U.S. Navy, directed by famed photographer Edward Steichen and narrated by Lt. Robert Taylor USNR...."

USS Yorktown CV-10 was originally Bon Homme Richard but part way during construction she was renamed for USS Yorktown CV-5 which sank at Midway.

Served one deployment on the Yorktown in Tonkin Gulf ‘68, ATN5. Fight deck troubleshooter for HS-4. The old boat is a year older than I am.
She’s at Patriot’s Point in Charleston if you’re ever down that way.

Yep, great tour. Not only the carrier, but lots of restored aircraft below deck. There’s also a destroyer and a diesel electric sub open for tours.
