Beautiful Jo. The first horse that put me on the ground was a little bay. I've never been thrown but I've fallen off a few times.

Over the last 60 years, I have probably sold over a thousand of these. In all that time, I only did ONE for myself.
That was bout 20 years ago.
I had a hard time deciding what color horse to put on this one, but I decided Bay because In all my years of showing horses, for myself or others, I never showed a bay.
Do you ever do ponies or other animals?
When I lived in Los Angeles County only two towns west of the Fair Grounds I used to go over and walk through the arts and crafts displays (I was there for the gun shows).
Everything from wood carvings, to paintings and shirts or wall hanging similar to what you do, Indian arts and crafts, Navajo Silver, stone knapping work etc. etc. If I had money back then I would have been dangerous. I do have a small "Dream Catcher" hanging by our front door.
Wow, that is a beauty, Jo. The detail in the mane is amazing. The portrait has a three dimensional look. Beautifully done.
Beautiful. I'm glad you finally got to do some painting for yourself, and just for the enjoyment.

Beautiful Jo
Being able to please me!! is The main reason I never thought of doing Pro Photog. work, And if my work/hobby pleased others That is great Too.

One of my bosses once told me It's all about You!! Yep and don't you forget it!!😊
If I'm not pleased by my work how can I expect others to be!!!

Thank you Jack.
I had one horse (the white world champion in my avatar) that bucked for about 10 seconds every time you got on him. I never got thrown but what was so silly was that if I got ticked and started laughing really hard, I fell off. Had two to fall with me but wasn't hurt.

Jo, that is absolutely beautiful. The horse looks so alive - ready to race off the sweatshirt & jump a fence.
Beautiful, the main flying, the rider pulling on the rains. very well done. The best cutting horse we had on the ranch was a Bay. Thank you.
Larry.
I just went back to enjoy your painting again. Is that a "J" for Jo connecting the bridle and the reins?

Do you ever do ponies or other animals? br br Whe... (
show quote)
Yes. Domesticated or wild, birds, fish... but I'd rather photograph birds than paint them and rather paint horses than photograph them. My motto is: I paint ALMOST anything on ALMOST anything. Almost means it has to be moral and legal.
I do so many things (that's why I don't do housework!) I used to do some wood carving and soap carving, not much time for that anymore. I make things out of wood too like cabinets, cornices, benches, children's rocking chairs. One of the paintings I did that I loved most was an Indian Tee Pee in the snow with a paint horse grazing on what little dead grass he could find. You could see the glow from a fire inside. It sold within 1 minute after posting it. I just meant to show it, not sell it.
I added some pictures that don't even come close to scratching the surface. NOW...sorry you asked???
Chair for my granddaughter
The shutters, the goose from old barn wood, the cornice.
Yep! It is what it is. A customer insisted.
Light switch plate
A child's table for my granddaughter.
Might as well add the lid.
Yard decorations, each piece 4 x 4 feet. Horse lovers do not want reindeer.

Thank you so much Frank. My problem is, I am my worst critic and I'm really harsh about it. I am never completely satisfied with my work, but I have sold everything I have painted for the last 60+ years. Except for the 10 or 12 I kept for my own collection.
I enjoyed my customers and in all that time, I never got any complaints and only ONE bad check, so I have a whopping lot for which to be thankful.
I decided I didn't want to be a pro photographer in 1978 when I started doing weddings. You have to be the first one there (the bride wants a picture with her hair in curlers...and the last one to leave, after taking pictures of all the guests eating cake and drinking punch while you took pictures all through supper. Then you take pictures of them driving away, giggling while trying to keep your empty stomach quiet! LOL
It's always nice to see someone doing what they love to do. Roll on my friend!!!

Thank you Larry. We ride with a rein just tight enough so the mouth barely bumps the bit as the horse nods with every step. We are very careful about keeping that moth tender. I could ride my favorite horse any time, any where with no bridle or halter at all. I voice trained him and a light touch on the side of his neck turned him. Go with leg cues and stop with "whoa". Did I love every minute of it. I'll bet you know that answer.
