I read on a dpreview that it was not only the number of megapixels but the size almost mattered.
After a certain point, it's all marketing. There will always be people with more money than brains who will buy into the more is better theory.
Personally, I would love the time to get to know the gear that I have!

I have read that too.
Yup. And something about the size of the pixels & the Pixel Pitch that renders a cleaner photo with a better dynamic range if I remember the article read about 5 plus years ago. I imagine it might still hold true today but, ....
In cameras built for astro-photography (require computers for capture and generally external software) there is a lot of discussion on number versus size. Larger pixels allow a greater dynamic range, i.e., the pixels act as light buckets to store the electrons created by light. If small then they fill up faster on bright stars and then you can't collect longer for the dim ones. Also, the electrons can overflow to nearby pixels, called blooming. Some cameras come with anti-blooming tech. Many astro-cameras are also cooled by Peltier coolers 40° C or more below ambient to reduce noise. Cameras are also designed to be better for planetary versus deep space.

Printing 4x6, 5x7, even 8x10 photos,
not much difference betwixt me D80 vs me D600.
Ill try the delta vs the D80 and the D800 soon.
