I finally got so bored sitting at home, holding my arm, that I simply went! My go-to place is the river, where sometimes I find wild horses. Today was 80 degrees, perfect blue sky and gorgeous, so I managed to get myself into the truck along with the R3.
No horses at the river, and no parking places at my favorite spot. But at a pull out I found a lovely cactus and a phainopepla. They were both quite a ways away, so I had to zoom all the way out. The bird is a black blob anyway, so getting a black blob didn't bother me. I thought the cactus looked nice.
Holding the R3 long enough to take these two pictures (from inside the truck) was about all I could do! It hurt, but it felt so good just to be there and to hold a camera again!
Glad to see you got out and about Kathy. Hope the arm is progressing well.
Don
I'm glad you were able to get out, Kathy.
Phainopeplas are not black blobs! They are elegant and streamlined, but your description made me laugh. I am glad you got out. Sitting at home is only tolerable for so long, and you live in beautiful surroundings.

It's going far too slowly for me. But it is progressing.

I totally agree about the surroundings. And we've got some weather coming in, so the sunny eighties are going away for awhile.
Yes, they are elegant and very recognizable. Even in my pictures!

Good for you, Kathy
Thank you. It really felt good!
I know the feeling all too well, Kathy. Okay, not the broken arm part, but the part about being bored (as often happens, with days or conditions or whatever that lack the visual interest that spurs me on) and after a gut-full of that, giving in to the gotta/hafta/if I don't I'll go out I'll go whack-o, so I scrap all reason, grab a kit, and go.
I got a zillion 'go-to' spots. I expect you do too.
Hope you heal up quick (yada-yada-yada). But even if it sometimes feels like it's taking forever, keep on getting out there. It'll make ya heal quicker.
Great to see you out, Kathy! Each time will be easier.

I know the feeling all too well, Kathy. Okay, not... (

Thanks very much for the encouragement. I agree that getting out there will cure my psyche, which will make the body heal faster. And yes, i have a lot of go-to places. Unfortunately some are far away (like Ecuador).

Thanks, Mike. Getting in the truck was the hardest part!
