I saw DPReview talking about the new OM-1 Mark II but it's not an Olympus. It said OM System. So the OM-1 was the last Olympus.

Not exactly. Olympus got bought out and dropped the Olympus name. As far as I know the Olympus e-mI Mark III was the last to use the Olympus name as such.

I think when OM Systems bought the photography division of Olympus it was given permission to use the Olympus name on the OM-1. I wonder if the Olympus OM-1 (film camera) was the first Olympus camera. It would be pretty cool if the first and last had the same name. A full circle.

But the OM-1 has the name badge as Olympus. Only the mark II has the OM System name.

The OM-1 wasn't the first Olympus. It was the Semi-Olympus 1. The OM-1 was introduced as the M-1 but Leica didn't like it so they changed the OM-1. Originally it meant Maitani 1. But it wasn't the first camera by Maitani either, he designed the Pen way before the OM.

OM-1 was the first OM Systems camera, but still labeled Olympus. Starting with the OM-5 everything going forward will carry the OM Systems brand.

That is correct. Even though Olympus still owns 10% of OMDS, it did not give OMDS the right to use the Olympus Company's name forever. There were agreements in the sale governing how long the Olympus name could be used on the products.

My point is that the Olympus OM-1 was the last camera to have the Olympus name on it. That's all!

You see it's not news. The tittle has the question mark. I was asking is it true that the OM-1 was the last Olympus.

No. The OM1 is the last Olympus. Look at one, it says Olympus. The new OM1.2 say OM Systems.
