It's a wonderful combination of elements. I love the barn. But I have a question about how open the side is. Wouldn't that make it rather cold in the winter?

These structures are not generally used as barns, per se. They are generally used as storage sheds for hay bales and other large items. Therefore, they could be open to the weather and not have to worry about temperature control inside. Unlike some barns or stables, animals are not generally housed in these type of structures.
