I thought this was an interesting article. I enjoy my Yashica 1.4 and Electro GSN, Olympus XA, XA2, Canonet 1.7 and 1.9 and a couple Minoltas.

Many people would consider the Contax G1 and G2 as rangefinders but they aren't. Same thing goes for the Fuji X-100 series. They look like rangefinder but they are not.

I bought a X100F when they first came out, it’s a nice little camera, but like you said, it’s not a rangefinder.

Not range finder cameras? What are they, then? KEH seems to advertise them as range finder cameras.

They are advanced point and shoot cameras. Just because they are advertised as rangefinder cameras doesn’t make it so. If it doesn’t have a rangefinder for focusing, it can’t be a rangefinder camera.

Well, upon further review, I find that these 35mm film cameras are autofocus rather than range finder cameras. I've learned a factoid today!!! Thank you, BebuLamar.

If you are interested in rangefinder photography rent a camera and lens and give it a try. I really enjoy it. The manual exposure and manual focus take some time to get used to, but I think it’s worth it. The problem is that it is expensive. Leica cameras are very expensive, even used, out of production cameras like the M10 are still expensive. The Pixii is an APS-C rangefinder made in France. It’s a lot less expensive than Leica, but I don’t know if it’s available in the US yet. B&H has it listed, but it is marked as “New Item Coming Soon.”

I have several vintage rangefinder and viewfinder cameras that I would let go to interested buyers. Contact me if you’re interested in a 60-70s era, working, rangefinder. I need to thin my herd.

It's autofocus isn't it, so you don't need a rangefinder. It is a rangefinder styled camera.
