Nikon Z8 with a wiggle.

When using the Nikon Z8 with the Tamron Z 150-500 lens when I push the shutter button the image moves in the eyepiece. I believe it is the vibration reduction. Do I actually need to turn VR off in the camera when using this lens? Has anyone else had this happen?

It is likely the VR. The lens plus IBIS is additive, both active gives even more support. If the Tamron is a native Z-mount lens, you might get by with just the camera's IBIS properly detecting the lens focal length when engaged, although the thought is lens VR is more effective than camera IBIS for longer focal lengths. Check to see if the lens has a "third" option where the VR is enabled only when the shutter is released, as a method to stop the viewfinder movement.

I know that with Nikon lenses, whether native Z mount or adapted F mount, the VR in the lens will work in conjunction with the IBIS in the camera. I’m assuming the same is true for a Tamron Z mount lens, but I’d check with Tamron.
I would think if there was anything noticeable at all it would be very subtle. Is it affecting the end result? I’m wondering if working with that heavy lens you might be jerking the camera slightly when you press the shutter. Have you tried shooting a slow burst and seeing if it only “wiggles” on the first shot?

Switch your VR from Normal to Sports.

I have that problem with my Sigma 150-600 lens when mounted on my Z8 (with the FTZ adapter). Many times you can hear the focus motor "chattering" when holding the back-button focus; this when mounted on a tripod. This can result in the photo being just that little bit out of focus. I found some setting work-arounds and that seems to alleviate the problem. I don't notice this when using the Sigma on my D750.

normal VR action. I see it often using a D500 and Tamron 150-600. does not effect the picture.

Nikon lenses are designed to work with Nikon bodies. Third party lenses may or may not work properly, especially on newer bodies. Best of luck.
