Last August I ask the question "Where is landscape photography going?" I have been playing around with Adobe Fire Fly since then, and I guess I am still wondering what kind of dent it will make for Pro Photographers. I am not a Pro, but still curious. I have a "art photo" I just did of a dog that looks pretty remarkable, not because I did it, but for the fact that it is computer generated. Anyone have any thoughts on AI?

AI image shares go in the Photo Gallery just like all image sharing.

If it's all AI it doesn't belong in the Gallery either!

Doesn't matter. Wherever you put it, it will be wrong.

I wouldn't say the Photo Gallery explicitly excludes AI, see below.

But, for the general community unaware of a new subsection, see AI Artistry and Creation @ https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-143-1.html

My take on AI graphics is that it is a tool like paint & canvas to a painter and musical instruments to a musician. It starts as an idea and with the use of the applicable tools, it becomes a piece of art. Using AI with photography allows the imagination to be creative just as all the post processing programs do - just a different method.
Be creative and enjoy

Nice, but it seems obviously computer-generated to me, more like a painting. But I am a true dog lover.

Thank you! That was a great honest and straight forward reply. I appreciate it.

Text based AI imagery is not photography. It is its own valid form of image creation, but calling it a "photo" is not accurate. There are AI based apps which are used to process actual photographs, and they are a part of photography.

AI is a part of inevitable "progress". Like every other new technology, it has potential good and bad properties. In photography and everywhere else in our lives. Yes, a tool. Like a shovel or an ax or a missile system.
I wonder if that beautiful dog has six toes?

I went there, and that is the place. Thanks for the guidance.

It's a beautiful image. I think AI is just another tool to create. However, telling the viewer it's a photograph is what's not correct, because that's simply not true. It's a totally different art form, just like painting is different from drawing or photographing (use of different tools).

This one doesn't, but some do, and some have two heads. One on both ends. Some pretty grotesque critters come from AI.
