It would be interesting to see IF the demand returns.

(Not quite as bad as going from roll film to wet plates.)

I don't think they will catch on again. But I'm no expert.

Why? The article says "shooting a roll of film and getting it developed ... can cost around $25-$30" What would I want a camera for that costs seventy five cents every time I push the button. That borders on silly thinking.

I won't go back to film.

I had the dream '70s darkroom. I custom built it. Although it was fun, I have no desire to go back to the chemicals, slow pace and challenging control over results. It took about 20 minutes to see a color print well enough to estimate the changes for the second try, then third try. Lightroom sliders are so very much an improvement.

Pentax announced last year that it is dedicated to developing a new generation of film cameras. Many Pentax users were dismayed because saw the company unwilling to compete in the mirrorless digital market, even though their digital cameras and lenses are excellent products for reasonable prices. The Pentax K1000 was the “Kleenex” of the film SLR market, so we’ll see how they do with their film business.

I can see it becoming a trend similar to the resurgence of vinyl records.
Niche, but growing.

I'll switch from digital when Kodachrome returns.

My (film) cameras still are still hiding in my closet. I Priced a roll of Kodak 35mm last week.
I thought at that price that it included a camera along with the film, ($13.95) at Walmart for 24-exposures.
Think we should stock up?

Will there be a Kodak Carousel slide projector and screen for that?

Have you tried displaying HDR digital images on a HDR capable display?

Yes I still have my Kodak Carousel projector, not sure about the screen, though. No, haven't dipped my toe into the HDR world yet.

Film cameras, IMHO, are a niche product.

I have five Carousels, one I bought new in the 80’s and the others from Goodwill. Bulbs used to be very expensive so I figured $8-$12 wouldn’t break the bank.

One of my friends in Chicago has went to shooting B&W film. He and his associates have opened an art gallery for viewing and sales. Not sure how they are doing.

What might be cool would be a camera that shoots both film and digital. Make your test shots with digital and when you’re happy with the result, then shoot the film.
