Post your favorite images of 2023. They needn't be wall hangers or contest winners (post these too!), to be one of your favorites - maybe because of the story, the people, the place, or something you tried. Tell us why they are among your favorites of last year. I'm looking forward to seeing your favorites and reading your stories.

Night at the Fair - I went to Maine's largest fair by myself with the intention to stay all day and capture some night time shots because we never stay beyond afternoon. It was a "first" for me.
This was taken in a downpour on our anniversary trip in June. My non photo husband, agreed to wait out the downpour, turned the car around and positioned it so I could get the shot. It was chosen for local bank calendar.
One of my favorite 2023 bird pix.
These peonies were here when my parents bought the farm in 1960, after two house fires, one in 1971, and another in 1976 they built the new house elsewhere on the farm and these peonies were neglected for over thirty years and over-grown till they nearly died. When I built a cabin near where the original house was I found this one still living, but very small and spindly, I cleared out around it and let it go on its own. A couple years later it started to bloom again, only one flower the first couple years, then two, and last year it got three large blossoms. Not a lot for a peony
but it seems to get better every year.
I have always had a "thing" about wanting to put things back the way they were. (Maybe holding on to the past?)

Nice start Pat - Thanks for hosting!!
Just realized how few times I had the camera out this year.
Here's a few unfinished projects I started. I'll do better this year.

Very nice shots, especially the bird on the beach.

For the past few years I have been working on two bodies of work - flower closeups and color infrared photos. Here are my 5 favorites of each for the year. All of them were shot in Golden Gate Park. I have come to realize the most important factor for me in both is color.
