Chicago's Lincoln Park Commission acquired the land and created Hamlin Park in 1909. Although the park commission was established in 1869 to improve and manage Chicago's Lincoln Park along the shores of Lake Michigan, by the early 1900s, administrators began creating new parks and playgrounds in Chicago's congested neighborhoods throughout the city.
Legend's Field The Lincoln Park Commission named most of their neighborhood parks to honor members of President Abraham Lincoln's cabinet. With his strong abolitionist views, Hamlin left the Democratic Party as a sitting US Senator from Maine for the newly formed Republican Party in 1856. In the 1860 general election, Hamlin balanced the successful Republican ticket as a New Englander partnered with the Northwesterner Lincoln. Although not a close friend of the president, he lent loyal support to his key projects such as the Emancipation Proclamation. In 1934, the Hamlin Park became part of the Chicago Park District’s portfolio when the 22 separate park districts were consolidated.

Beautiful tribute to a legend, Paul!
Thank you johnny, Mike, Paul! We managed to arrive to Hamlin Park after a bus ride and walk, for me to then discover I'd forgotten the GX9II I'd planned to bring. So, just some phone work and hope same additional LR editing would work out.
Thanks for the history lesson. #3 is my favorite.
Thanks
Fstop12, John! I wanted to bring a point and shoot to the park. Not sure the results would have been different.
