I fully agree. Take Bergen Blvd in Fort Lee, NJ south. Look to your left and you will see an awesome view of the Manhattan skyline. As you go south, you will start out on the Palisades and gradually descend into Hoboken. Weehawken is in between. And there are 4 more boroughs.

Great shot of lower manhattan and Brooklyn and manhattan bridges can be had from Brooklyn heights esplanade which is on top of the Brooklyn queens expressway. Great during day and particularly impressive at dusk or later with building and bridge illumination. Bring a tripod for evening dusk. Best lens would be wide angle zoom to be able to adjust.

Two places come to mind - Brooklyn Heights Promenade - great view of lower Manhattan - try early AM/ late afternoon before sun sets, and perhaps night time with tripod. The other great vantage point is Governor's Island which is now open year round (https://www.govisland.com)- you can catch a ferry from lower Manhattan for a small fee. In March it may still be cold so dress warmly!
