I used to be abe to make recording with Audacity and make audio CD to play on regular CD player. Now the CD I made only play on the CD drive of a computer but not on a regular CD player. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

One of my burn programs ask if it to be played on something like a boom box or a computer.
But I haven't burned an audio disk in years.
Check to see if there is a "destination" type option in the burner.

You may be making "data discs" where the audio files in whatever format are burned to the disc but not in Audio CD format.

Try this. Export your Audacity recordings as WAV files. Then burn those files to Audio CDs in the proper format using either the Windows Media Player or third party software (Roxio, Cyberlink and others.)

Instructions for Windows Media Player per Microsoft.
=================================

You can make a CD that stores about 80 minutes of music and will play in almost any CD player. Or you can make a data CD or DVD that can hold several hours of music (or many photos or short video clips) and will play in PCs. A data CD will work in CD players that support the file types copied to the disc.

Here's how to burn an audio CD:

Open Windows Media Player.

In the Player Library, select the Burn tab, select the Burn options button Options button, and then select Audio CD or Data CD or DVD.

Insert a blank disc into your CD or DVD burner.

If your PC has more than one CD or DVD drive, select the drive you want to use.

Search for the items in your Player Library that you want to burn to the disc, and then drag them to the list pane (on the right side of the Player Library) to create a burn list.

When you're finished with the list, select Start burn.

Tips:

If you want to change the order of the items in the burn list, drag them up or down in the list.

If you want to remove an item from the burn list, right-click the item, and then select Remove from list. This removes the item from the burn list, but doesn’t delete it from your PC.

If your list has too many items for one disc, you can burn the remaining items to a second disc."

MP3 or MP4 I think you are missing the codes for it to play on those CD players "boom-box".

I can't help with that programme but I've been using Burnaware for many years.
It's free and I've never had any problems, burns anything you will ever need...
You can pay for other versions but the free one works great.
If you can't get yours to work, give it a try.
Cheers, Ron.

I found out that the CD I made with CD-R disc only works on some CD player. It would play on my car CD player, my Bose Wave Radio with CD, my Yamaha laserdisc player which can play CD. It doesn't play on my Panasonic DVD/CD player or my NEC CD Player. The molded CD (not burned CD) works on all of the players. It's a pity that my Bluray player doesn't play any kind of CD at all. It has the best transport out of all of my players.
