Total eclipse of the sun and photo opportunity.

On Monday April 8th 2024 there will be a total eclipse of the sun. The high point will be about 12:45 that day here in San Antonio. San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas are right at the center of it. (See attached maps of the predicted path). This is a truly rare even and these three cities will be right in the path of the full effect. This is not to be missed. I have been through several total eclipses of the sun, it is quite an experience for we humans.

I am hosting a photo type event at my studio in case you are interested. In will be both indoors and in the gardens. There will be special welders viewing filters so you can look at the sun safety and comfortably. Food and drinks as well.

Photographers need to pay models where and when called for (as to compensation) if you want to model, this could be part of this. BUT, at 12:45 is the perfect view of the totality of the eclipse, which means that before during and after, for some time, we will be outside experiencing the event. Regardless, you need warm clothes as you will feel the cooling effects of the loss of the sun's warming that entire day.

Now, to models, if you can hook up with some other person or group that will be doing this at other locations, even a photo event, then you now know what is coming, where and when. I'm down with you going to a big payday event. There will not be another total eclipse in the Texas area for years to come. So take advantage to set up for this unique opportunity.

What to expect, is a totally unique effects to you and all living things. Simply put, all animals will go to ground. Birds will go to the earth and huddle beneath plants. Aggressions from all animals will cease. (Even is there are mosquitos, they will leave you alone!). You will feel this as well in yourself. Like the birds, insects will not fly and the ground ones will stop movements. Most animals will simply go silent and seek cover. The quiet during an eclipse is a unique thing to experience, that is not to be missed nor trivialized.

Do not miss this rare opportunity to go through this event, it will be quite the experience. To be clear, I am hosting this and I am not going to charge any thing for the studio use or the food ad drinks.

As to models, both figure and clothed, compensation will be up to them, but you will get more info about that as the weeks progress. At this point I have the commitment for several models who will be here that day. VADA of course and also Kat. See the photos. (Yes, those are not the maps! LOL!!!). I have reached out to several models to see if they are interested as well, like Ms. Liz Ashley in Houston (Houston will only get a partial eclipse view/event).

Now some maps and photos (that is why it is listed in the naughty section, duh!).

I have been working on a general descriptive document to explain the studio and its opportunities and potential. I am an artist and I live in my studio. So it is in no way anything like a normal 'home', it truly is the way artists actual live. The house cat is a part of the studio, she keeps some of the outside creatures outside or gone. I do constantly fabricate things, that is what the 'garage' is, a work station for finishing and fabrication.

Basic studio description.

Much has changed here and I think for the better. To be up front, I charge $75 for the rental/use and that covers you for the entire shoot, what ever that turns out to be. Also, it is winter and the studios are generally cold. I use the fee to get the spaces warmed up. Thee is no real- heating to speak of so I need to heat locally in the building. So to that end let me inform that.

There is still a garden and it is extensive and overgrown, so you have that option. I should say also that I own the building-property and that has had a huge impact. I have above the garden an apartment, it is totally renovated and is actual warm with a passive heater in it and an AC unit. It also has loads of natural light and there are mono lights that will help there as well. It has loads of power (50 amps) that also supplies the outside with plug in power.

There is a large 'tube' (a seep cattle watering trough with spigot connection, I use a 'Y' connector to feed both hot and cold water into the base of this tub), and I have multiple hot and cold water supplies that makes for great water shoots regardless of the time of year. As always the garden is secluded so nude work is easy and secluded.

I have many shoes and boots (sizes from 5 to 14 women's US sizes), along with jewelry, scarves and many other accessories. Along several wall are multiple shelves that hold banker's boxes, these hold common items to each box, that are clearly marked on the outside of each box (things move around a lot!). All the clothing racks have castors to move from storage making it easy to access the different clothing items. Women who visit and work at the studios comment that the studio/model dressing room say that it is 'model heaven'. There are racks of belts of all description, size and length. Housed on a light duty castor stand I have hangers with Zip Lock bags that hold hats of many types. There are several dozen hat boxes, mostly pre 60s era.

The front lighting studio has much new gear. The main lighting is Dyno-Lite 1,000 watt box with heads and loads of backdrops. Extensive Norman flash gear, and also Speed-O-Tron flash units. For the Dynao-Lite there is a complete pro ring light with several attachment options. There are stands to hold backgrounds as well as stands and pro type booms. Above this main lighting room, at mid point on the ceiling is a 4X4 cedar beam to hold accessories as well as to handle suspension type shoots. That support has been tested to well above 500 pounds and there are chains and swings that can be attached as accessories to do shoots. I do not supply paper backdrops, but I can store these and there is a wall mounted 9 foot holder. There are dozens of canvas and cloth background. The studio has a diverse number of 'hot lights' dating from the early 30s (Photogenic) to the50s (Fresnel) and modern quarts lights. There are photoflood lamps in both standard and Mogo size fixtures and bowl type lamps/reflectors. Diffusers materials, and gels along with cucolorises and gobos.

The front model dressing room is heated, with AC also. Full length mirror and vanity mirrors as well. Some clothing is stored there (many smaller items and accessory type pieces, skirts, corsets, baby doll and other lingerie items). Just out the door of this room are tall shelves. These shelves are for some of the many shoes and some boots, as well as boxes with accessories (scarves, stockings, body wear, bras, swim wear, boas, hair items, masks) and much more that are labeled. Shelves holding small containers of jewelry and many fetish items. The space has overhead LEDs and curtains, a sofa, chairs and can be used for shoots as well as conferencing and dressing.

There is the kitchen area. It is a 'normal' kitchen for food preparation tjat is off to one corner with two refrigerators. There are also multiple areas for doing shoots. There is a small stage that allows for the installation (anchoring floor to ceiling) of many optional items. It can have a pole for pole dancing. It also was options for a tree trunk, a catholic cross, and other type items. Above are more LED lights as well as the option to add to the above lighting fixtures. There is also a full length (4X8 foot) wall mounted mirrors. More storage and of course the standard washer and dryer. A space is also there that I refer to as the work bench. This is a standard height work surface that can e used to build projects and may also serve as a small shooting space.

Directly off the kitchen area is a new structure I call the solarium. This is a glass enclosed space that looks out on the garden. It has furniture and has a 220 AC unit and a 220 electric heater can be placed there. The space is not ultra finished out and so has many options. There is a door into the garage as well as an alternative unfinished (intentional) I call the Cedar Closet. This is an alternative space suited to naughty work. And lastly, the solarium has a glass fronted door that opens out into the garden area.

As to mirrors, I love mirrors as well dozens of these, most are movable and are from small to full length, even 4X8 foot plate mirrors. Some are in frames of all types. Also, I have acquired many sheets of glass and many large sheets of heavy plate glass sheets. There are also aquariums, one is large enough to hold a small model.

There are many furnishings to do shoots with, some are designed for alternative (naughty) shoots.

Planning is always the best solution. The more information I have the better I can prepare the space for you shoot. Stored are doors, some in light frames that can be anchored and fake walls added.

She looks good in everything, especially her birthday suite!

But she is the best necked, playing with bubbles, in water, eating water melon (she adores water melon, and kitties and her huge 225 pound piggy in her back yard! LOL!!!).

Here is Ms. VADA (back ground) having wine in the bouncy castell with Dr. Starena, both are vary naughty medical professionals so I never worry about getting sick! LOL!!!

Both love it warm, in water, and Serena likes water melon, wile VADA is nuts for that tasty red fruit! Oh and BOTH are crazy about their poet critters.

So VADA has said YES! Starena is firmly on the fence, too far off to commit. And Liz will be here in mid February so I can twist her arm, not that I ever would do that to such a Babe-A-Luscious gal.

Fred Herzog says he will be there (I will put bells on him, at 75 he tends to fall a lot!).

But Kat is saying she will, even if Walt can't come (Bummer!). Who is Kat you ask? Another crazy wild child.

The last one of Kat is my image of her that I did with her. It's true, I love to create sets. I love what some call clutter. That is why I adore that first image of Kat for Valentines (not my image, think it is Kats own craziness). It is not clutter, it gives the model the opportunity to become one with the idea and join in the fantasy that can then become a part of the magic created. The sweater and claps, plus shoes were my in put, Kat got into the ultra short wig and the stockings after I gave her a theme of a vary naughty late 50's house wife coming out of the 'closet' as a sex crazed house wife who was on the prowl. I love the toes pointed in and that confrontational look in the eyes along with the hand placement and gestures.

It is easy to work with Kat, she is my notion of the best kind of model, looks and brains. Yes, smart, has a PhD in Pharmacology. Like Liz Ashley (Masters in Art History) or Mosh (PhD in abnormal Psychology). If you have never looked at images of Mosh (from the past as in "a Mosh Pit" for modern dance at raves). Smart women are so much more fun than Eves!

Sorry, got to say it, if you like modern women as models Mosh is the "shits"! She is tiny, and a powder keg of energy! She is also just a great human being. Yea, I have worked with her helping out at another photographer's shoot. She wanted to kill him he was so disorganized! In the end we ended up giggling about him, and she calmed down. She is a live wire, it was an honor working with her, she really is totally down to earth, just tightly wound. Never give Mosh sugar! LOL!!!

I dig that you are way up thar but here in the thing, just up from my studio (less that 1/20 mile, really! It really is right up Mission Road) there is a nice simple cheap motel ($80 a night), vary clean and quiet, people have stayed there over night after a day at the studio. Then, you got the eclipse and the babes! VADA is such a great person and I swear it's true, she would rather be OUT of her clothes than IN them!

Well Tim, you are offering a very nice setting for this event. I live in Grand Prairie Texas, Planet Earth, third dimension. This as you know is between Dullass and Ft.Worth. Yea I never cared for Dullass. Anywhoo, this past annular eclipse I shot a few hundred images of the event with both my Nikon D300 S and the Panasonic Lumix FZ300. I made my own filters and I posted here on UHH in the Astro and gallery sections how I made them.
Now, I was talking to my 93 year young mom last week and she was telling me that she was reading about ALL the hotels and motels already being booked up in advance of this. I would expect the same there too.
Your place looks like a really fun and happening place to experience this event. It sure like a fun place to be.
I am not sure yet where I will be, if I stay here I will do it from my patio. If I move, I will do it from there. If I get stir crazy, I may run down there and hang out with you kids.
All in all, you have great offering for this eclipse event and I know we will seeing some really interesting images.
Sir Broose tha loose signing out for now.
Keep it real bro.

I will PM you, not to worry.

Me, I will maybe take a look when it hits the big moment, but make photographs, nope! Why? I simply do not have the equipment. Camera lenses are made to image at around 8 feet and most of the gear people use are referenced as hand cameras. That means used in the hand held form and I know that the moon is a lot further away than 8 feet (just would not fit in my garden, not that I want it there, probably upset the local law dogs! LOL!!!).

So, if your going to make any decent images of that stuff up there, you gona need either optics for aerial photography, or like astro work. Plus, away from pollution and all that jazz. Plus, remember that the earth is moving, so if you don't have a tracking control for the imaging platform you must use an exposure of at least 21/10 second or your image will show motion ue to the earths movement in relation to the other objects out there (Ansel Adams Basic Photo Guide, and yes, the old guy knew this and figured it into his exposure when he did Moon Rise Moon Rise, Hernandez, New Mexico, October 31st 1941). Wait! Hay, that is just a few weeks before the US enters the war on December 7th! Hold on there, that was Samhain, and Nazi Germany was a pagan culture as was the USSR! But wait, isn't Fascist Italy at that time a Catholic Country? Yes, but the Catholics absconded with the Pagan calendar and so you get All Souls Day (the conrfusion is that the Pagan high Holly Days actually begin as the sunrises aftyer the night that the festival begins, so Rocktober 31st is really the same as November the 1sdt to pagans! So ol' Benito freed himself from the whole Catholic gig by declaring The Vatican a separate state in 1930s, so as the Australian's say "No worries!" See, now your getting it! Well, look it up, its all there!

See, art historians are good for something, like getting astro physicist to go out and determine the exact date of an image of the sky! Shout out to UT Berkley!!!
