I finally pick my phone.
I was issued an Iphone from the company I worked for so I never had a smartphone on my own. They gave me the Iphone 4 and over the years upgraded to Iphone 12 when I retired. The one feature that I really miss was GPS and so after a long time thinking about whether I should get an Iphone or an Android phone. As I have used the Iphone for a long time I am familiar with it but also have a number of dislikes of them. I am not familar with the Android phone.
So after months I decided to go for the Samsung S23 instead of Iphone 15. I must say I have to get used to it but so far I like it better than the Iphone.
Both our phones are Android. My first was the Galaxy S-III.
I now have an S-21. (I skipped 4 to 20)
Been very pleased with Android.

I've always had an Android even though most of my friends have Iphones thinking theirs are better. After I got the S23 Ultra they changed their minds. I think they are all good, like the choice of having a Chevy or Ford back in the good old days.
These are the few things I dislike about the Iphone but perhaps people who like them, like them because of these things.
1. With the Iphone it's impossible for me to put a file either image or audio file into the phone without going thru the internet. With the Android a simple USB cable would do just fine.
2. There is 1 app namely "Fluke Connect" that I use often which never worked right on the Iphone with my Fluke DMM's. It would work with some models of the Fluke but not all. I thought the Fluke units are defective but now they all work great with the Android phone.
3. If I forget the Apple ID/Password I am dead in the water for a long time before I can recover.

I understand the new iPhones are sealed with no open ports... Then I guess you are right about file transfer. I just connected my 11 pro to my new iMac yesterday with a cable and transferred 370 JPEGs to the Mac. Maybe I better look into this...

I meant try it the other way around. Transfer 1 picture from the Mac to the Iphone without the internet. I know people say why put a picture taken with another camera in to the phone? But I do have such need.

Hey Beb, do the new iPhones have an open port for a cable ?

I know the Iphone 12 I had did have the port. The Iphone 15 does have a port but I am not sure it's thunderbolt or USB C. Yes you can plug a cable into it. But all the Iphone only allow 1 way transfer that is out of the phone but not into the phone via cable.

Bummer.
When I connect my Android to the computer I can put any JPEG picture files I want on the phone, including PDFs.

Yeah, sounds like a bummer of a one way street ! Maybe the brainiacs thought that not that many people would travel that road...

I need to do that too, and it isn't a problem with Android. I still take most of my pictures with dedicated cameras. I put some of them on my phone to show them to various people when I visit them without having to download them from somewhere.

But IOS people said that for the security of the phone and it's safer if you use Itune or Icloud or even email that is sending your files thru the cloud (where is the cloud) and then it will arrive at your phone a foot away from your computer is the safer route.

I haven't found emailing photos and then saving them to the phone to be a problem.
