#1 - I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer that uses an outside sensor to send a signal to the indoor display, which shows the indoor temperature. When it began displaying 33° all the time, I figured the sensor batteries needed replacing. With the batteries removed, it still displayed a temperature, but not the outside temp. After replacing the batteries in the sending unit, it still shows inaccurate readings. I'm guessing that the whole package just stopped working, although it does show accurate indoor temp and humidity. I thought it was odd that the display showed an outdoor temperature when there were no batteries in the sending unit. Time for replacement.

#2 - Now that I have my Big Red computer working, I wanted to print on some DVDs. I started SureThing Disk Labeler V7, which I've been using for years. When I tried to print on a disk, I didn't get the choice of printers that I used to get. All I can do is print on paper. I reinstalled the program, but it still doesn't let me print on a disk. I even tried V6, and that gives me the same results. As I mentioned, I've used this program on this computer for years. There is no obvious solution to this problem, so I'm going to use the old Dell to print.

Unless you're an active user of Disk Labeler, you won't have a solution for this, and I'm not expecting one. I'm just pointing out two odd electronic situations.

With regard to number 1, that happened to me once.
The receiving unit holds the last value received. Taking the batteries out of the sending unit won't make the receiving unit show nothing.
I put new batteries in both and reset both units as there was a reset button in them.
Works fine now. But I don't remember if the problem was with an old set (Oregon Scientific) or the new set (Accurite) because one of the Oregon Scientific units died after 20+ years...

Thanks, but I've done that, and the outdoor temp still doesn't show. Time for a replacement.

I worked on a lot of temperature measuring, recording, controlling equipment and have remote via analog current loop or ethernet but I have never run into something like Jerry has.

Nope! Wireless for industrial uses are very expensive. I don't know much about stuff that are used in the home.

I've used more than one for years, going back to 2006.

Take out all the batteries out them back in the outside unit first than the inside unit. They might have to be close together at first.

Jerry, if you print on a disk label and not get it exact, it will set a small wobble due to balance which is not good for your player.

Now I remember I did work on an Accurite unit about 6 years ago or so. I had a hard time with it. It had a solar panel to power the remote unit. I don't know if it's still working. At the time the city found out that we might have dumped some ink in the sewage so they made us installed the unit and put the display on the internet so they can monitor it. If they see the rain fall more than 1 inch they would come out and test our sewage water.
