I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max. In addition to a whole huge bunch of large Camera bodies and lenses. I’m at a point in my life now where I want to get rid of all my fancy equipment and use the iPhone which for my personal use does great. Has anyone Tried this: and if so, what did you think? Thanks for any response. Everybody have a good new year and stay safe.

I haven’t heard of this one until just now. There are two or three similar products out there, most available on Amazon. One other UHH’er has posted a review of one he got, but I don’t recall what the results were. Most of these seem to work, but one or two suffer from some glitches. This one looks like a good set up, though. Sure would be helpful when using one’s cellphone as their main camera. Thanks for posting.

Why make believe the iphone is a pro camera when you already have a pro camera? That should be fine for those without the proper tool and just want to
Play and make believe they have one. Sorry i dont get nor agree at the idea, but thats just my own personal upinion. Its your money and your game, so i really have no voice over that.

I’m not sure what you actually mean here. I don’t think anyone who uses a smartphone as a camera pretends that it’s a pro camera, however some folks have a hard time holding the phone when using it for a camera and a grip such as this simply makes it easier to hold steady, similar to how a regular camera is used. No “real” cameras were hurt in the process.

There are many camera design. And smartphones are really not that hard to use as a camera. The item in question is not really about making the grip and controls easy but to emulate the feel and look of a dslr/milc. In the sense, its making believe the iphone is something it isnt. Its even there in their advert. Feel like a pro etc. But as have mentioned before, that just my view on it. If it pleases you to own and use the contraption, i have nothing against that.

One of the issues with phone cameras is the the ability to hold them and trigger the shutter. It is especially a problem for landscape (horizontal) orientation. So this is an interesting idea.

However I have not used one of those so I can’t advise on how well it works. I am interested in hearing others experiences with this type of device.

I've seen this before but I don't personally know of anyone that uses it. My personal observations from looking at the site and the video is that is appears to be bulky and that's something I'm trying to avoid. What do I do with it when I'm not using it? Will it fit in my pocket or will I have to carry a case for it? How much attention will I attract when I'm out on the streets using it. One of the things I like about my IPhone is it's something everybody has and no one pays any attention to you when you are using it. Having a strange looking setup like this might draw attention that I don't want. Another question is how fast is the Bluetooth connection? One last question, I didn't see this in the advertising but are those internal batteries replaceable? In the end, it really doesn't matter if I like it or not, it's you that will be using it. In the Photography world it's a pretty inexpensive piece of equipment so you should give it a try and then report back to all of us your REAL World experience with it. I wish you the best with it and look forward to your feedback.

Woh, dont jump the messenger.

"Sorry i dont get nor agree at the idea, but thats just my own personal upinion. Its your money and your game, so i really have no voice over that."

What is trolling about that? I genuinely meant it; I dont get it at all. Why would someone who already has a DSLR, throw it away and buy a contraption to make a phone look and feel like a DSLR?

Never the less, that is just me. My own upinion and even if I do not understand, I have no voice against it.

How can that message be trolling?

I genuinely examined the linked site and to my eyes it is full of advert hype.

I might joke, but never will troll. Not my style bro. This and the previous image are actual screenshots of their site.

Phone cameras are wonderful cameras for many types of photography. And they are clearly getting better all the time. Their easy portability and constant availability are major advantages. One disadvantage is the awkwardness of getting a good hold on the phone, especially in the landscape orientation. The subject device is an attempt to get a more comfortable and secure grip on the phone-camera. The "pro" references are just advertising hype that you can ignore.

Stop fighting where there is no battle....

Emil Pakarklis on YouTube shows how to hold a smartphone for taking photos. Works great. Doesn’t cost a thing. Basically you cradle the phone between thumb and little finger and with three fingers on the back. Use other hand underneath for support and to take a photo or select options. A simple clockwise motion goes from vertical to horizontal.

That's an older How To Video and it does work well for smaller phones. The larger Iphones of today like the Pro Max's make it a bit more difficult if you have smaller hands.

I would likely not buy one of these grips as I don’t have a problem holding my iPhone 13 Pro Max to take a photo. I can see how this would be a real asset for someone who has serious hand issues and needs a grip to hold their phone. I don’t see it making it into a pro-level camera as the ad states, though. It’s a tool and works for some folks and not others. If you use your phone exclusively as a camera and you shoot a lot, perhaps a grip like this would be an asset. I just carry mine in my shirt or pants pocket where it’s readily available. Everyone has their own opinion.

I do find it hard to hold the phone-camera comfortably and securely, especially in the landscape mode. With no neckstrap or wrist strap I worry about dropping it in situation such as leaning over a railing. I can't remember if it was you or Fstop12 or someone else who had the phone in a case that had a small strap to push a finger through. That seems like a good idea!
