When I was a kid we took a two week vacation and went from North Dakota to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. When we returned we saw the back door standing wide open. Mom said, "Someone broke into our house!" Our neighbor hurried out and said, "Everything is all right. I've been keeping an eye out and no one has bothered the house at all. Welcome back." If that happened now the house would be totally empty. Change of times and your right, I miss them.

I think a lot of it has to do with not knowing our neighbors, but I have no idea what is cause and what is effect. I sincerely doubt that there is one thing to point at as having caused it.

Have you noticed that houses are built closer to each other but the residence are getting socially further away from each other?
