'It is sweet and fitting to die for your country', says the sign across the front of this WW1 truck. I photographed it several years ago at a remembrance event at the local tank museum. The setting is a field just below our house that was snow-covered in 2018. Not seen much in the way of snow since. The figures were taken at the same or a similar event and the whole thing was put together a while back. Apart from having to open the gate, there's no great trickery involved, just a simple composite. I don't think the hue of the truck quite matches the rest looking at it now - I leave you to decide! Any critique is welcome.

I like the two slightly ghostly men at the back side of the truck but less sure about the smiling fellow inside.
Overall, the way you composite is wonderful. The truck has a couple branches growing up around it, and the wheels are nicely “planted” in the snow.

Thank you Ellen. Nobody has mentioned the kilts of those two guys - a bit cold in the snow but the Scots are a tough breed - ask RG!
It was really quite an easy composite, something that went together quite easily. Opening the gate was the longest process.

Thanks Fstop - and for referencing the truck. I thought it might need fading back a touch but both the boss and you say it’s OK. I’ll leave it as is.

General antique color yes, the dash of red a flavoring yes. This is a wonderful image... Often we take images at an event and do not discover them til later... Your treatment and composition create a message well done.

In going thru some of the not-before-explored items in my Paintshop Pro Ultimate 2023 there is an Action that is labeled "antique." It gives the coloration similar to what you have but ragged tears the edges giving an old and tattered look. A tool I will be using in the future.

The only thing I see might be concerning is the lack of wheel tracks behind the wheels, and I wouldn't have seen that if you hadn't mentioned the color question. To me, this is one of the better composites I have seen--congratulations!

General antique color yes, the dash of red a flavo... (show quote)

Thanks for your comments Don. I seldom know what I’ll do with any particular image I shoot. Only very occasionally do I have something definite in mind. It’s a fault and one I struggle to correct but I enjoy coming up with an idea as I browse the files, or try to find something to fit a type of image I’ve seen elsewhere. Ps has a ‘torn edge’ filter. I watched a tut recently showing how to get a better result from that than the simple application of the filter gives. It looked good.
