I Changed from LR CC to LrC

I had my PC replaced with a new one having more speed, memory and storage. In the process, my IT guy replaced my LR CC with LrC and the differences are significant. Two examples of the multitude of changes that befuddle me are:
1. The layout of the editing tools in Develop mode, including the absence of all the colors except Red, Green and Blue. What happened to the others? Also, there are color wheels in LrC the function of which is unknown to me. I've tried playing around with them but haven't figured them out.
2. I shoot RAW and use Picasa in conjunction with LR. Previously with LR CC, when I exported it was seen by Picasa as a full size 20-25MB file. If I wanted a smaller file, I used the Image function in Ps (at the top of the screen) for that purpose. Now, when I export, Picasa sees immediately sees a dramatically smaller file, about 3MB, even though I do not change the file size before exporting. What's up with that?

Can my IT guy deep six the LrC and pull the LR CC out of my old PC (which is now stored as a hot spare in my basement) and install it in my new tower?

Thanks, Hogs.

Would you please stop using the letters. I can't tell for sure when you mean the "cloudy" version or the "Classic" version.

In any case, if you have a new computer with a new operating system, I think you should consider using current Adobe software. That means the Adobe $10/month plan which will put the Creative Cloud app on your computer and you control it, not your IT guy!

Can you post a screen shot of the color part of your question and a screenshot of your export settings?

Your IT guy should not be pulling Adobe apps from your old computer. Nor should you. The apps come from Adobe. Yes, if your were keeping image and catalog files on the old computer's drives, those need to be brought to the new computer. That's a routine process.

Assuming you are a subscriber to the Adobe plan...and download the Lightroom program - not Lightroom Classic.

I would guess that some of the issues are you seeing are because you haven't updated program settings (preferences /configurations, etc.) with the new computer and Lightroom program(s).

If you were using Lightroom (cloud version) and Lightroom Classic got loaded onto your new computer and you don't want it, just uninstall the Lightroom Classic an then download the Lightroom (cloud version) and install it. There would be no reason to try to copy it from your old computer to the new one.

They are all still there, you just need to play around and open things to investigate. I had the same problem at first but now all is well here. LRc is one amazing program especially when you have PS installed which happens to come with your subscription. Good luck.

Now that you have more powerful computer I would go with LRc and get the more powerful set of functions and not have to play with the cloud. You may have to watch a few videos to see the differences but well worth the effort. Instead of the Yugo you have the Audi - lots more things on the dash to to ease your experience.

Lightroom Classic has a learning curve. There are many videos on YouTube, and there are too many books to enumerate. Make your choice and dive in to a learning mode.

I think you mean you now have the LRC which means the one installed directly on the computer. LR is the one in the cloud. (I made a similar nomenclature goof in my post the other day on this as well.) Either way, there is no pulling the old program out of anything. Your IT guy simply downloads (from Adobe) either/or both LR or LRC and then you sign on using your credentials. LR does not have quite the organizational capabilities of LRC. But if you just want to edit photos in place on your hard drive and store some pics on the cloud, then it will work perfectly. LR also has the ability to organize photos into albums, which I assume you know what that is. With LR your albums and cloud photos should appear upon sign on.

As BobHartung noted, make your choice and dive in. If using LR and Picasa works for you, then fine. But, I do not understand why people use multiple programs for a similar purpose when learning one program, to its fullest, seems to be a better way of doing things. For ME, the organizational aspects of LRC are valuable tools. It is my only organizational program other than Explorer. In my mind, simplify simplify simplify. As the old saying goes, fear the man who carries one gun, because he is probably quite proficient with it.

Just a little additional information. LR (the cloud version) can now be used locally as well. You can access and store all your photos locally and only use the cloud when you want to access photos from other devices.
