Changes are coming from Google. I don't like having to access my phone to continue because I seldom have my phone turned on when I'm home. I have to find the phone, turn it on, and wait for it to boot.
Starting December 14, or soon after, when you try to sign in with a password, you'll need to complete a second step on your phone, so we can make sure it's really you signing in. After entering your password, you'll simply confirm a sign-in prompt on your phone or get a code to enter.
A lot of places are using 2-factor identification these days. Kind of a pain until you get used to it (especially when you leave your phone in another room).

I think they can send the second code to an email dadress, too.
Yea....
More companies are doing the two-step verification.
Some even say "Remember this computer?" so I don't have to do the two-step all the time. Some are always. Less critical I have remember.
I now have to carry my phone from the family room (laptop) to the office (desktop) a lot more, if I remember...
I access certain sites from either computer.

Yes, "Remember this computer?" is very popular.

You and me both Jerry. I've got a big 2 day battery Motorola that often lasts two weeks!
The time it takes me to work my way around these things I'll be dusting off the encyclopedia soon.

I turn my phone on when I get up, off when I go to bed.

I'm starting to get spam calls on my cell now - very annoying. I don't get as many as I do at home, but it's still annoying, especially when I'm driving.

Ahh... I hardly ever get spam calls on my cell. Maybe one every month or three.
A bunch on the land line though. Mostly Robo calls.
Still have to answer as it could be one of the kids or Dr. office or pharmacy or ....
Caller ID is worthless as it can be spoofed easily. No Caller ID on the land line for that reason.

If caller ID shows something I don't recognize, I pick up and hang up. Hopefully, I don't miss legitimate calls. Why these calls are allowed, I can only guess.

They are not if one is on the No Call List, but those people don't go by the list.
Been on the no call list for
years, seems to make no difference anymore.
I have all the people, doctors, dentist, companies I want to talk to logged into my phone, so if they call I will see a name. If I see a number, it does not get answered. Of the unknown caller is legit, they will leave a message.
I experienced that today, while trying to utilize a "Gas Buddy" app.
After several attempts to get recognized, I simply deleted, the sign
in for the new app and decided that I didn't need to subscribe to
Gas Buddy, to get a discount on Gasoline. My small loss is their
big loss.
Maybe they will get enough complaints, that they will re-program
their sign up procedure.

I haven't used Gas Buddy in quite a while. The cheapest gas around here is always Citgo, and it's "TopTier."
