Captain Spaulding in Resin

20 years ago, my friend and donut shop buddy Sid Haig, starred in a Rob Zombie movie called "House of 1000 Corpses". It was a theater cult classic and success. Sid played the role of "Captain Spaulding" a very homicidal and scary clown. He reprised the role in the Devil's Rejects.

Sid lived near me and we would often meet at a local donut shop and Sid would conduct "court" with a close circle of friends. He was a heck of a guy. He was educated and was also a trained hypnotist. I often thought he used that skill to hook his audiences in his film roles. Sid was young at heart and was always good for a laugh or a one liner. We all loved to sit and talk with Sid.

A few years back I found this collectible bobble head (photo shown) of Sid in his Captain Spaulding outfit. I have never taken it out of the box. I was going to have Sid sign it but he became ill and had moved out of the immediate area. He passed away before I could see him again.

He will always remain in my memory as a great character actor and more importantly a friend of me and my family. RIP Sid! See you at the Big Top!

An interesting "of the heart" story.

I would think twice about letting this character out of his confines... it may come to life late at night and you will never see morning.

PS: I have my copy of the cookbook, "Tastes Like Chicken" written by the famous very homicidal, and scary clown, Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer who in real life was much like Sid's Captain Spaulding character.

I know what you are talking about! I keep his face turned to the wall. Reminds me of that old "Trilogy of Terror" made for TV show. Most older folks have seen it in their youth. I hated that show.As for Dahmer... he sure got his. Makes you wonder where people go wrong and what was their major malfunction?

Just be good to one another. Play nice in the sandbox.

Have a great week.

Jim
