If you keep up with the latest released films you will understand. How about the next in the franchise be "Godzilla VS Ugly Hedgehog". Say a Hedgehog got too close to a leaky nuke plant and was transformed.

.

I know, silly, but I was watching the Trailers for the new Godzilla Minus One film that came out December 1 and then looked at a set of video clips of all the Godzilla films from 1954 to 2023. There seemed to be one nearly every year! Many I do not think were even shown in the USA. Many of them are so absurd that they are laughable.

This new Godzilla movie is getting great reviews, 97/98 on Rotten Tomatoes. When the critics and the audiences agree, it's a good bet. It's made by Toho, the Japanese studio which made the original Godzilla movies. There have been several US made Godzilla movies which weren't very good. As a kid I loved monster movies, and I am going to see this one in IMAX.

I had a music editor friend who was a "Rubber Lizard" fan. On a visit to Japan, he managed to get a tour of Toho studios. He asked if he could see the original Godzilla...actually called Gojira by the Japanese. He was led to a closet. When they opened it, hanging in it were several Godzilla suits.

That is good since I want to see this new one. I really liked many of the Godzilla films. Mainly the earliest few and the latest few. There are other non-Godzilla monster films I like/liked.

I can't agree with that at all. All film makers have hits and misses. Different strokes for different folks. Peace.

That is neat. Yes, I know about the earlier Godzilla/Gojira films using scale models and a guy in a rubber suit. A few years ago when the original "Godzilla" actor died a friend of mine and I were sad. We are both fans of the first 1954 Godzilla film, especially the Japanese Gojira version. I have both on DVD.

Its ALL in the mindset...Either you GET IT or you don't...Getting it meaning that YOUR head was in the same place as the producers head was... That doesn't mean they were not blowing air and misreading audiences and prospective revenues. I like the Idea of a true artist and his OWN vision of a film; let the audiences fall as they may !

I liked how the monster had evolved from being a bad guy to being a good guy.

Yes, in the last two or three Godzilla and friends save humanity from worse villainous monsters.

This new movie is a series reboot, back to the atomic lizard in post-war Japan. From the trailers it looks like he's not friendly.

Yes, I watched three trailers and that is the case. The story takes place shortly after WWII. At least in the trailers I saw no Large Ships in the Japanese Navy. Probably realistic as likely all the Japanese Battle Ships and Aircraft Carriers were at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean or decommissioned due to the Japanese Surrender. We will have to see the film to know for sure.
