My 13 year old granddaughter took pix of some of her art work and sent to me via text.
Last drawing is from a children's show she has long since out grown called Teen Titans.

All the others are her own creations drawn over the last 2 or 3 years

Thank you 13. I want to get a camera in her hands and see how quickly she leaves me in the dust with talent and creativity

No doubt that had a noted artist produced these, they would be worth thousands!

...looks like she has developed her own "style". And, YES!! to getting a camera in her hands... Take her on a hike through some woods, or along the shore... Don't say anything, let her "create" from what she sees. Then, when you get home, fire up the computer and cocoa, download the pictures and let her narrate.

...and maybe, do an advance lesson, such as www.121clicks.com and see what photos she likes and, more importantly, ask her to explain why she likes them. It will help her develop her own eye...

Good advice. I actually have an ancient digital point and shoot type camera. It's biggest drawback is a 1/2 second or so delay between pushing the button and the shutter activation. But it will give her experience with composition and using available light until I get her something better

Granddaughters are very special. Given her artistic talent, she is uniquely special.
Love and enjoy her. Mine is about to be 24.
